Troubleshooting Brother printer on home network

Just bought Brother HL-L9200CDW laser printer and connected to home network

Connected to home TC that is in Bridge mode to cable company modem/router via Ethernet cable

MB Air connected to TC via wireless network

Installed all the Brother printer drivers, software etc. Can see printer via network address and able to print test pages, network settings etc etc.

Printer will print immediately after installation but does not wake from sleep. Power down/power up cycle doesn't help, nor does pausing/resuming printer queue.

At present, the only way I can print on a $500 laser printer 3 days out of the box is to reset printing system, reinstall printer drivers and power down/power up laptop to print a page!

nothing on web re 'wake from sleep', 'deep sleep' etc works. Printer goes to sleep and stays there.

would appreciate any suggestions!

would also strongly urge everyone else to avoid buying Brother - this is unbelieveable. If I can't fix this, I have to return the printer.

thanks in advance

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), (mid-2012) 8GB RAM
