I had done the Whatsapp update on 25 October version 2.16.13 and when I get a new message the badge icon does not show. The badge icon is on in my notifications. I have tried everything I can think of. I have also deleted the app and reinstalled it and still no badge icon. Someone please HELP me!

Please go to:
Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp
and make sure the option 'Badge App Icon' is enabled. Or if there's any other option unabled, for that matter.

The badge icon is green, which would indicate to me that it should show a red blob when I have a new whatsapp message.
Infact....
Allow notifications, show in notification centre, sounds, badge app icon and show in lock screen are all green and not grey.
I am having the same problem, it sometimes appears and sometimes it doesn't. I have done all the obvious FIXES (re-installing the App, enabling all features for Alerts, including Badges, and IT STILL DOES NOT work.
I have iPhone 7 iOs 10.1.
Please advice, or does anyone have any other suggestions?
I have exactly the same issue after the update...
uninstalled, reinstalled, turned off and on again notifications and cannot get it to work.
occasionally it will work for one message and then not again for hours.
this was since the update on an iPhone 7+ with iOS 10.1

I'm having the same issue and it appears to be affecting quite a few people using WhatsApp 2.16.13 and iOS 10.1.
Probably worth giving it a few days - I expect WhatsApp will release a new update to fix the bug...
i have the exact same problem. Installed new version of whatsapp (v2.16.13) on 26 October and whenever a message is sent to me i dont see any notifications on the whatsapp badge. I only see the flood of messages when i go into the app. Extremely frustrating. Tried everything that RachelHS has done but still no luck. Please help!

I think this problem is affecting a lot of people. I have contacted both WhatsApp and Apple Support who both blame each other. I think it is just a case of waiting until there is an update to fix the issue. ðŸ˜
I'm pretty sure it's a bug on WhatsApp's side. I'm still way back in iOS 8.3 and I've had this since the 2.16.13 update too.

This is something both Apple and WhatsApp messed up, you got all the settings right. These last days I thought I noticed this problem happening on my device too, but I'm not sure. I'll be testing a little further, although I haven't updated my iOS just yet (still on 10.0.2).
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. The last thing I can think of is trying to reset WhatsApp notifications settings. Maybe (just maybe) it can somehow override all the settings and fix the bug. But it's just a blind shot.
