iPhone 7 problem with Honda CRV Bluetooth

I paired up my new iPhone 7+ with my 2013 Honda CRV Bluetooth hands free system and everything seemed to work but some incoming calls, I get no audio and they cannot hear me. The car picks up the call from the iPhone, but that is where it stalls. I think I got past the problem the last time it happened by pressing the [Transfer] button on the Honda screen a couple times but I should not need to do that.

My first thought is to completely remove the Bluetooth pairing from both the car and the phone and start over. Does that sound right?

I have the exact same problem, it is very frustrating, I have tried all the steps mentioned above, I have tried pairing, unpairing, deleting resetting nothing works. I have been on the phone with apple technician, I have set an appointment with apple genius to reinstall the SW and have gone to Honda dealer nothing helped the problem is exactly as everyone is describing. I know it is an iOS 10.1.1 problem, I am a new iPhone user, I have a Honda CRV 2013, I bought an iPhone SE one month ago, paired it and worked fine for 2 weeks then I kept getting constant messages to update my iOS, finally I gave in and did the upgrade I wish I had not done it, since then I have the problem described, I receive the phone call I can see who is calling, I have full bars but I can not hear the person calling and they can not hear me, I am very very angry, paid a lot of money for this iPhone and it is not working, my dinky old phone used to work fine, someone almost suggested that my car was too old and I should get a new one to match with the phone well. Please someone come to the rescue.

My iPhone 7 / 2013 Honda CRV are still arguing over who has the incoming call. Now, when it rings, I immediately press the [Answer] button on the phone screen of the Honda. I have the nav system on mine. If I am fast enough to do that, the call is picked up by the Honda hands free system okay. I am going to try the [phone pick-up] button on the steering wheel if I can remember the next time to see if that works.

However, if you miss it, the call seems like it was picked up by the Honda hands free, but you have no audio and your party cannot hear you. Then I press the [Transfer] button on the Honda a couple times until I get it to work.

This is NOT a work-around. This is NOT hands-free operation! Come on Apple. Pick up this problem and solve it. It may require some more setup menu entries, but I know that you have some very good software engineers. They can do it.

Louise,

Thank you so much for joining this conversation. Your point would be well made except:

1. HondaLink is a newer car application than my 2013 Honda CR-V. It was started in 2015.

2. My 2013 Honda CR-V does not use HondaLink. It includes a much simpler Bluetooth HandsFree.

3. The Honda Bluetooth HandsFree has worked perfectly all along EXCEPT with my new iPhone 7+.

4. Honda claims that this Bluetooth HandsFree is absolutely totally functional with the standard as it existed in 2013 when the car was manufactured.

5. All of the Honda technicians at my local dealership agreed that every other smartphone they tested worked perfectly fine with the Bluetooth HandsFree in my car.

So, Apple is dropping the ball on this.

I agree 100% Apple is dropping the ball on this one and it is not just iPhone 7, mine is iphone SE exactly same issue with Honda CRV 2013. I am convinced the issue is the OS 10.1.1 my phones Bluetooth was working fine before upgrading the OS. So if it is a SW issue apple should be able to address and fix the problem. One apple technician suggested I should buy a new car to be compatible with the phone.

LOL... Oh boy. Doesn't that sound like a great answer... to Apple?

Oh! Forgot to mention! When this all started, my daughter linked her iPhone 6 to my Bluetooth HandsFree and it worked just fine in my 2013 Honda CR-V. I forgot all about that. Then Saturday, she got her iPhone 6 updated to iOS10.0.1 in the Apple Store. Now it works just as crappy in my Bluetooth HandsFree as my iPhone 7!

So it is an iOS10 related problem?

I sure would like to have a real Apple iOS team person weigh in on this conversation.
