Hi
Apple Watch cannot be paired with a MacBook Pro. It must be paired with an iPhone 5 or later running the latest version of iOS:

To set up Auto Unlock for your Mac (a mid-2013 or newer Mac is required, running macOS Sierra), follow the steps here:

Hi Jan, first of all that is possible the best name in the world and not just because I have it too..... the reason is.....well I forget. Ok onto your issue.
To be clear as stated above, an Apple Watch is only ever "paired" with an iPhone....
If you are trying to connect your Apple Watch to your Mac you have to check off a few things.
Ensure both are using the same iCloud account.
Ensure the iPhone 5S or later you are using is on the same WiFi network as your computer
Ensure your Mac "see's" your Phone in Bluetooth and it should also be able to "see" your watch - this is if you are hoping to use the watch as an unlock device for your Mac.
If you are, you also need a 2013 or later Mac.... you may need to double check the exact date but i know the Watch Unlock feature will not work with older Mac's
and ya, this article is helpful

When all else fails, turn all devices (iPhone, Apple Watch and MacBook Pro) off and restart them in this order.
