I have two photo books made in iPhoto and I cannot order them. Get message: An error occurred while contacting the Apple Online Store. Please try again. I have OS X Yosemite and iPhoto 9.6.1 I hope there is a solution or another way to print these books. Thanks

Very distressing not to realize this before I made these books for the grandkids but glad there is a solution. How do I order through a third party vendor... not sure of that process.

Yes they do offer print services for Photos, and yes, they would prefer you to use the new app - less support and maintenance for them. But it's by no means compulsory, and your books won't migrate to the new app anyway.

How do I order through a third party vendor
The one vendor that other users have tried and favorably reported on is PrestoPhoto.
Create a PDF of your book according to this Apple document, Preview a print project in Photos or iPhoto to avoid issues - Apple Support, go to the PrestoPhoto site, select the book type you want and upload the pdf file to their site.
