Updates

My updates has the number 6 on it which usually means I have an update. When I go to updates at the App store nothing is there except 3 updates from a few weeks ago and a macOS Sierra update from the other night. Does anyone know why this is occurring ? Thank you.

I suggest you do the updates offered and then go from there.

If you are not afraid of using the command line, you can update software using the Terminal app (which is in the /Applications/Utilities folder)

- Type "softwareupdate -l" without the quotes to have a list of installable updates for the Apple ID signed in to the App Store

- Type "sudo softwareupdate -i -r"without the quotes to install recommended updates. You will be asked for the root password, which is in many cases your user password AFAIR. If not you can check this support article about the root user : Enabling and using the "root" user in OS X - Apple Support

I had the exact same issue as you and it worked for me :-)
