Safari iOS 10 maximum number of tabs is 500

My experience shows that the maximum number of tabs in Safari iOS 10 is 500, it is not unlimited as it was reported by some other sources.

I counted 501 tabs - probably I've made a mistake and it was just 500. Upon reaching it "+" sign faded out not allowing me to add any more tabs before closing at least one tab.

Really dude?...

You felt a need to reply to this post?

Like anyone is going to have or use 501 tabs open in a web browser!

Your going to be lucky, depending on web site content, that any iOS based web browser will be able keep more than 20 active website tabs open without crashing, never mind 501!

Who is going to try this in "normal" everyday use?

Idiocy or insanity or maybe both!

This was a stupid posting from the getgo

WT!.....

If your iPhone has 2 GBs of RAM or more AND if you have no other resource hungry apps hanging around in the iOS App Switcher, AND the web content in these tabs is not very content intensive, then maybe, and I STRESS, MAYBE, you could, perhaps, manage 50-100 active website tabs without a crash!

I ain't buyin' having 500 active website tabs open in ANY iOS web browser!

Ain't buyin' into that!

I am more inclined to believe, perhaps 50 to 100 active website tabs in an iOS web browser.

But that's still stretchin' credibility for my sensibilities and my very large and significant knowledge of iOS.

Lmao i have max and use them all daily(lol let's just say I don't sleep much) i guess you could call me insane XD but it gets laggy sometimes and when I accidentally make split page... now that's a nightmare

Again, why?

Who needs to have 200 active web browser tabs open on a mobile device?

I can see 50, maybe even 100 tabs, but anything over this is just ridiculous!

What's the purpose of having this many web tabs open?

Your iDevice cannot be running all that well when all these tabs are open.

Especially, if you leave Background running apps active.

Again, why do this?

Are you some sort of stockbroker or something that needs that much access to stock trading, or something?

ADD/ADHD?

I don't get this!

Your iDevice gets laggy because you have 200 or more active website tabs open!!!!!!

Note also that a tab open onto a site may also imply some sort of ongoing session with that site. Which may persist as long as the tab is open (the joys of unconstrained cookies). This can be a boon (no need to start up from zero) or a bane.

Imagine this: after a steamy session on an adult site while in total privacy with your device, you fail to conclude the session by leaving the tab open, buried deep in the 500+ pile. Later in the company of your SO, boss, Mom, whatever, you inadvertently open a new tab to the place. Where you're instantly welcomed back by name, likes and such with much fanfare. So much for plausible deniability, having gone right out the window...

Yes. Yes it is. Ideally, I would like 1000 tabs. I just recently ran out of tabs and I am disappointed because now I have to close one every time I want to use the internet. If you’re wondering why I keep them all, it’s because I don’t like overwriting a tab because I might want to come back to it later. So instead, I always just open a new tab. By the way, I am not being sarcastic at all. Comeplete sincerity.

Ever hear of a bookmarks and bookmark folders???

How about using/taking a screenshot to save a web page or web article?

Bookmarks ensure you can re-access a web site or web pages any time without eating up computer resources that keep being eaten up by having 500 active websites constantly being accessed and updated in the background.

Sincere or not, this way of using a web browser, even on a full blown computer, is just ridiculous!.

I am SURE your IPad is running like crawp!!!

Lesser IPad models and other tablet models ARE NOT designed to be used the way you 4 users are using a tablet device and web browser.

No one needs to access 500 or more website or website pages unless someone is some sort of financial, economics tracker, web hacker or dark web user/hacker or somebody else with A.D.D., O.C.D. or other mental issues or simply just has too much free time on their hands.

RIDICULOUS!
