Custom formats not editable from older sheet

Hi, so I have this sheet I made back a couple years ago where I track my budget, and I added a couple of custom formats to it, but after I upgraded to Numbers 4.0, format editing is greyed out, and in fact, I can't seem to be able to create new custom formats at all in this sheet.

What's going on? How do I make this compatible?

Totally unavailable. I can use them, but can't make new ones or edit them. I also tried iCloud, and numbers for iOS. Same issue.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Is the file shared? Some features may not be supported in shared files and you could try un-sharing the file to see if that enables the controls.

You're right, that's what it was.

That's very strange though, this file has been shared for years, only this version of numbers can't handle editing custom formats
