Music app won't play songs of album in order.

I know with ios 9 they changed it so you had to open the mini player to click or unclick the shuffle icon. When I open the mini player now there is no shuffle icon. When I'm looking at the list of songs with the mini player minimized, there is a "shuffle songs" at the top of that. When I click it/ unclick it the songs still don't play in order. Help! Thanks.

I agree. Apple is now making the worst software in their history. It appears that now the user has to change this setting foe eash artist, awful! It couldn't be worse of they intended to design crapware. Not to mention users cannot see lyrics that they took the time to enter already.

What in the world is going on out there!

I'm on iOS 10.3.3, and my 'Swipe-up / Now Playing' content is different (after clicking the "..." button in the Now Playing expanded box, I get what's shown below), so I see no Shuffle control. Any ideas? So frustrating.

EDIT TO ADD: Okay I figured it out! And I feel pretty stupid, but it really is a design flaw (I'm a UX designer LOL). The problem was, I didn't realize that the Playing Now expanded box could be scrolled (see below). Sigh.

There needs to be another place to change that setting. If I tap shuffle, the app begins playing music in a shuffled order. If I tap shuffle again, it selects another random song from the current album and begins playing. Tap again, selects a different song and begins playing. There is no toggle function on the shuffle button. I have scoured the menus and settings for Music, and I cannot find anything. Sometimes playing in order is important. Resetting did not add a toggle feature to the shuffle button. My phone is up to date. (iPhone 6, version 10.3.1(14F89)). I would really appreciate a solution to this one.

Thank you,

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, glabath.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues playing music in the order they are listed within an album. I know it's important for your music to play how you prefer. I'm happy to help you with this.

Since you have already verified that shuffle is not on the Now Playing screen, check to make sure that the album your listening to does not have Shuffle All enabled as shown in Use Apple Music in the Music app :

Play your music

If you want to listen to an artist's entire collection of music that you've saved to your library, find the artist in Library > Artists. Tap Shuffle All User uploaded file to play all of their music.

If you find that shuffle is not enabled there as well there but you still aren't able to play songs in the correct order, try the following steps and test out the Music app after each one:

  1. Force quit the Music app and reopen it - Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  2. Restart your iPhone - Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  3. Update your iPhone to iOS 10.1 - Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Thanks for using Apple Support Communitis.

Take care.
