ISScript.msi error

Everytime I try to install the new version of Itunes, I get "your system is running an older version of ISScript.msi engine and can't install ITUNES. How do I update the ISScript engine or how do I get my older version of itunes to run again. After the attempted instalation of the new version my old version wouldn't work and had to be deleted.

okay. the 7.0.x installers are actually not InstallShield based. however, earlier versions of itunes and QuickTime installers are InstallShield-based ... so this message is actually being thrown at us by the iTunes installer when it tries to uninstall the previous earlier version.

so let's try getting those previous versions of iTunes and QuickTime out of there by other means, prior to the itunes 7.0.x install. try the procedure described in the following post:

Well as I said before, I have done every step that this web support has told me and it's still telling me I have an older version of the install engine. I have installed every version of the installshield and also tried updating the .msi scripts as well. I even tried to install the old version of itunes 6.0, and even it said I had an old verion of the install engine.
