Is there any way to have iTunes NOT copy diagnostic information? I'm trying to sync my phone to add some new ringtones but the process sticks on the "Copying diagnostic information" part of the 4 step process.It should not take this long. Last time I synced my phone, it only took a few minutes. Now after 10 plus minutes it's still trying to sync the diagnostic information. PLEASE HELP!

OMG. So - I switched to airplane mode upon which wireless updating stopped working. But at least it doesn't take 20 minutes to add a new book.
Thank you, Sumaran14. I also had the same issue, am running 10.2, already checked off "Don't Send," but still got stuck in this loop of "Copying diagnostic information." Clearly a bug.
For anyone else having the same issue, I switched to airplane mode during the long sync. It immediately ending the "Copying diagnostic..." loop and iTunes finished syncing within seconds. Thanks again.
On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Diagnostics & Usage. Check 'Don't Send'
I have updated both phone and mac and have "Don't Send" ticked on my phone but still spends 10 mins "Copying Diagnostics". Having it ticked does not seem to work.

I just switch off "WiFi" on iPhone and it works fine

I think Apple fixed this with the latest 10.1.1 update that was released on Nov. 9. It can only be installed with itunes, and it will show up when you plug your phone in. I think this because I had the same problem using the 10.1.1 version from Oct. 31 (build 14B100), but was fixed by updating to the new version, build 14B150.
I recently (this month - January 2017) started having this issue... Seems like Apple has an ongoing issue with this still and the way to actually fix it is to have users do a "workaround"... Hopefully they'll get this fixed as it's annoying as anything...
For me the only option was to restore my iPad from backup. iTunes should have deleted the log files after syncing, but didn't. One of the iPhone cleaning apps (PhoneClean) said it deleted the log files but didn't. It was repeatedly trying to delete the same files.
So make an encrypted backup (so that you don't have to reenter all your passwords) and restore your device from that backup.
Hi, i had the exact same problem i figured if i switch my phone to airplane mode, it works perfectly fine. dont know why but try putting it in airplane mode as you're about to sync it.
Is your iPhone configured for beta-testing (to run pre-release software)? I think that's when the syncing of "diagnostic information" comes into play.
