Playlist Ordering by "Date Added" Issue

Playlists are synced to the device in ascending play order, not necessarily what is currently shown in the iTunes view of the list. In this case use the Songs view of the list to set up the descending date added view, then right-click on the playlist name in the sidebar and click Copy to Play Order. Finally click the heading of the left-most column of numbers to show the true order. Note in such a view albums will typically have their tracks listed in reverse order which isn't really what was wanted, so some manual effort may still be required.

1- In Itunes, click on the playlist on the left menu.

2- using the menu bar on top click on view then sort by date added. change it from ascending to descending.

In iTunes, does this playlist show song list with oldest at the top and newest at the bottom? If so, that's how it syncs to iPhone. To change the sort order of playlist in iTunes, use Songs view (menu bar -> View -> View As -> Songs) if you are not already, and click heading of Date Added column (to sort by Date Added). Click heading of Date Added column again to reverse sort order, if necessary. When you see playlist with desired sort order in iTunes, sync iPhone.

Thank you! This allowed me to sort my "recently added" by date added! The column was missing for me to make that visible and sort by. Changing the view to song showed that top bar and I was able to right click > add date added > then sort by it!
