Battery drain. Apps crash. Phone crashes.

When will there be a fix on the battery issue? Also various crashing of apps and phone. Very annoying.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. I can have my phone open, be at 85% and 5 minutes later be at 32%. This did not happen until the ios10 update. I can plug it in to charge and bounce back up to 85% in a minute or two. I have heard from other iPhone users of this issue, also.

This was the first time I have posted a question here. Apparently I did it wrong, which is so very kindly pointed out. I have rebooted my phone several times... or it just does it on it's own when it crashes. I have not restored it as new... I will try that... that was the only helpful part in your snarky reply. Thanks. 🙂

It could be a bad battery. When building millions (billions) of units, sometimes a part goes bad.

Also look at Settings -> Battery -> Battery Usage ... to see if there is an app or set of apps that are consuming all your power.

As for posting here. We are NOT Apple. We do not like to be spoken to as if it our fault.

Post a civil question, give us details, and we will try to help. You did not post anything useful until this last post. Until then we had nothing to go on.

It is not the battery. I have checked my battery usage. There isn't anything alarming there. Like I said, it was my first time posting anything here. I didn't really know who would see it or reply to it. I certainly didn't post with the attitude that whoever was reading my post was at fault.

I can see you're just as snarky as the last guy. Useful information was given. The battery drains. Apps crash. I suppose I could have been more specific but either way I put it, the battery drains means the battery drains. I have done a search on it, and I'm not the only one having the issue.

Oh, and snarky guy number one said "There is no battery issue, so there will be no fix." He's not Apple.... so he really shouldn't answer like he is. 😉

...

It is not the battery.

Batteries do not just drop over 50% charge in 5 minutes, unless the battery is defective, or they are very old and are not holding a good charge any longer.

And a good battery that drops 50% in 5 minutes should make the iPhone too hot to handle, and the thermal protection circuits should have shutdown the iPhone.

But if the battery is defective, or if the battery is very old, and does not hold a lot of charge in the first place, then I might see how it could loose 50% of its charge in 5 minutes without getting excessively hot. And if that is the situation, then the battery should be replaced.

It's not happening all the time. And I find it hard to believe that me as well as many others download ios10 and suddenly all have bad batteries. This issue has happened before and Apple has put out a patch to fix the drain issue. As a matter of fact, it seems to be something that happens with a lot of major updates.

But the rate of battery drain you are reporting would drain the battery in 10 minutes. The other reports of fast battery drain mean the iPhone does not last all day, but maybe only a few hours.

You can file a bug if you want to get the attention of the iPhone developers

There is a good chance, it will be closed as a duplicate, but every duplicate bug is a vote, that a development manager will use to assign priority to a problem.

Make sure you give them details, such as which apps crash. Include screen shots of battery charge (with the time in the screen shot) when the battery is full, and then the 5 minutes later when the battery is 50% lower. (Screen Shot is taken by pressing BOTH the power and home buttons at the same time).

This is true. After I updated my phone my battery would die quick. & when I would charge it, my charger would drain it instead of charge it. I put my phone on the charger at 26% & when I looked back at it, it was on 5% but the charging symbol was still there. I took it to my phone carrier & they opened my phone & checked my battery, he said that my battery is fine. After running tests he told me my battery was actually doing really good. Then he asked me if I updated my phone to iOS 10, i told him yes & he said that is what it is. & that he has had mutilple people with this same problem.
