Network wifi adaptor that works with MacOS X 10.12 Sierra?

I have been looking everywhere for a USB wifi adaptor compatible with Sierra. I have contacted TP-Link and they told me that a driver is not in the works for any of their products (01Nov2016). Moreover, their current drivers released for El Capitan 10.11 are still in beta. I have also checked Asus, D-Link, Panda, Edimax...

If anyone finds a working adaptor, please let me know!

Side question: why are Apple's operating systems not backwards compatible drivers of previous years? I am not trying to open a discussion as to why one OS is better than the other and I hate comparing the Apple's OS to Windows... but a driver works on Windows 7, it typically works on Windows 10.

Thanks!!

According to http://www.tp-link.com/us/download/TL-WN722N.html#Driver the latest driver listed supports El Capitan aka 10.11.

I don't have this product so cannot comment on it specifically, but in general if a drivers exists for El Capitan it means it is a driver that should in theory be 'signed' so as to pass the SIP security. As such there is a much better chance the same driver would work on Sierra as well which also uses SIP security.

See https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204899

It is also possible to disable SIP protection and this often then allows older unsigned drivers to work even with newer operating system versions. See this article for instructions on how to disable SIP http://ntfs-formac.com/how-to-disable-sip-rootless-system-integrity-protection/

I bought TP-Link TL-WN823N Adaptor and tried to install with the drivers that came in CD. It did not work for MACOS Sierra version 10.12.2 on Macbook Air

When I contacted TP link online support they gave me a link that current drivers support versions only upto 10.11 for which driver is available at http://www.tp-link.in/download/TL-WN823N_V1.html#Driver

When I downloaded the driver from the above link it installed perfectly and Adaptor TL-WN823N is working great with MacOS Sierra 10.12.2

Actually speed is faster than the original Macbook Air wifi You can also try and get the solution

Just placed an order for the TP-Link TL-WN823N. Fingers crossed that it will work. I had a MonoPrice dongle that worked on my PC, but could not get it functioning on Sierra. I need two NICs, one for the regular internet, the other to connect to a drone. The idea is that I'll be able to allow people to control the drone over the internet if I get this working. I'll let you know how it goes.

It is true that most Windows 7 programs and drivers work in Windows 10 but not all.

It is also true that many older drivers do not work in El Capitan or Sierra.

One of the main reasons is that with El Capitan Apple introduce an additional security feature called 'SIP' aka System Integrity Protection. This feature requires drivers be officially signed by a valid developer certificate to prove they are genuine and trusted and not malware. It also makes it easier to block such software by revoking the certificate if needed and SIP also prevents modifications to locations that belong to the operating system.

There are ways however to turn SIP off and this can actually allow older drivers to then work. Obviously it is much preferred for the developer of the driver to issue a new properly 'signed' driver. The problem has been that manufacturers have either disappeared, or decided not to issue new drivers for obsolete hardware.
