My operating system is today OSX El Captain. If I update it to Mac OS Sierra 10.11.6 will Final Cut version 10.3 work properly? Will it affect my projects and the performance of the computer in general?

10.11.6 is El Capitan not Sierra, which is 10.12.

The system requirements are given in the App Store as well. You could not download it on the system if it did not support it.
According to the App Store, Final Cut Pro X (the only FCP available from the App Store, requires OS X 10.11.4 or later.
You do not need to update your OS. The new version of FCP will run with your OS, which I believe you said is 10.11.6 El Capitan.

Hi I'm running a MacPro with 10.12.1 (Sierra)
The App Store won't let me install FCP X 10.3 (says it is already installed) (I have 10.2 currently installed).
Why is that? Is it the MacPro that can't accept the new update? My MacBook Pro seems to install just fine with Sierra.
The link you've send does not specify which version of Final Cut Pro and that is my concern: if I update my operating system to Sierra will it affect somehow the use of my old version of Final Cut Pro 10.3?

I had purchased the Final Cut 10.3 so my question is about the compatibility with my version and the new operating system : Mac OS Sierra 10.11.6. Will my program run with it?

Are you sure? Since the link you've send is related to the last version of Final Cut which I don't have and I don't intend to buy a newer version right now. My version is 10.3

It's probably seeing another copy somewhere. Just move the app to the trash and redownlaod from the Purchased page.
That is not what the OP (Jacqui) asked. She asked if the "old" FCPX (10.3) WILL WORK with SIERRA. She would like to upgrade to Sierra, but is not sure if it will make the old FCPX unusable somehow. I have the same question.
The "old" version 10.3? You mean the one from October? Yes, that version will work with Sierra macOS 10.12.5, which is the currently available OS in the App Store. Nobody should be using 10.3. There were many probably in it that have been subsequently fixed. Probably the best version if you can get it is 10.3.2.
The OP has 10.3, but I have 10.2.3. I'm not ready to update FCP X yet because I'm in the middle of a project, but I was considering updating the OS to Sierra for other reasons. But I don't know if that will hurt my FCP X 10.2.3.
I ran 10.2.3 with Sierra without problem, but unless there's some pressing reason to upgrade it I wouldn't until your project is done. Unless it's going to be a long term project over an extended period.
Thanks Tom. I'll wait until next week to update the OS to Sierra and FCP X to 10.3.3 – after I finish my project. I think 10.3.3 is the latest version, so it's the only version I can get from Apple, correct? You said 10.3.2 is the best, but I think I can only get that with the free trial (which I downloaded a few days ago).
There are directions on the Apple website explaining how to back up the Final Cut app and your libraries BEFORE upgrading, just in case, because the new version will update your library and you can't revert it back. So, if you back up both of those, you can try the new version to see if it works with your current OS.
If you have the 10.3.2 version I would suggest using that for the time being as long as you can, as there are a few dangerous bugs in 10.3.3. Hopefully there will be an update to that soon.
