SIMBL Agent quit unexpectedly

Looks like Conduit/Community Toolbar add-on.

Locate the files in bold print and move them to the Trash. The first five are in your root /Library

/Library/Application Support/Conduit

/Library/InputManagers/CTLoader

/Library/ScriptingAddtions (anything CTLoader realted)

/Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg

/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle

The next one is in your Home folder.

~/Library/Application Support/Conduit

Then restart your Mac to test.

I used to have it when I used Chax (and add-on for iChat) back before Intel based computers.

Do you have any plugins listed t the plugins folder ?

This might give a clue as to the Add-on(s) that might be involved.

Also check ~/Library/Application Support which would make it work for just your User account.

I have not seen SIMBL for sometime as I have not used anything that tweaks an app at all.

I feel we are being given less and less choices in some apps.

There is no formatting to any Text in Messages (even though some services like AIM allow it)

You can't choose a font you might want to read things in.

It will not be Flash.

culater.net have a removal tool in their installer download. Try running that to uninstall SIMBL

It may leave plugins behind but the main app should be removed & the warnings should cease - reboot to confirm

I'm confused - is this solved or was marking it solved an accident?

If it is still a problem you can search for 'SIMBL' on your boot disk.

An application called 'EasyFind' will do that or you can activate the option to show 'system files' in Spotlight.

I don't know what version of Mac OS you are on so I'll explain EasyFind instead as Spotlight's UI is different on each OS.

Open it & set it up as follows in this image.

Please post the 'file path' to each found item here - you want to be very careful before you delete anything.

If nothing appears you can look of invisible items too via the sidebar options.

Can you open that path in Finder & see that file?

Use Finder menu 'Go > Go to Folder…' enter the following path

/System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/

Try moving the 'SIMBL.osax' item to the Trash. It is not clear to me if this will fail on Sierra due to system integrity protection, other posters will be able to help if it fails.

That location is being called from a launchd agent plist file. They can live in several places. I suspect it may be /Library/LaunchAgents. Can you see any net.culator… files there?

Did you install EasyFind? If so search for 'net.culator' too as they may be in other locations under the reverse domain name.

I think it was system wide, but also check your own ~/Library/LaunchAgents too.

Once the plist is removed launchd should stop nagging after a reboot. If you have any doubts backup the file & make a note where it came from - it might help if anything bad happens.

We can try listing & unloading the launchd job if you want to be ultra cautious? It just gets convoluted to explain.

Sorry it turns out that folder is not empty, Apple's SIP is hiding it from you, it may even be hiding the other items that SIMBL installed.

I don't know the correct way to advise you to remove it. You will need to wait for someone who can help you remove it or you can look up how to disable SIP.
