Autocorrect too fast

Has anybody else run into a problem on Pages in Sierra wherein you type fast enough that autocorrect thinks you are trying to spell something, say, "simultaneously", and autocorrect tries to finish the word for me as I am typing it which then leads to it causing a spelling error which it then tries to autocorrect again and ends up spelling the word wrong that it was trying to fix. I got "simultaneousslly".

Any idea how to stop it from messing up my typing without disabling it entirely? I'm 90% certain that it has something to do with the document autosaving to the cloud as I type it and processing the autocorrect function.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to be annoyed by this behaviour. I'm not sure about your diagnosis of the cause, but I haven't noticed it in any app except Pages.

As a lousy typist I'm reluctant to give up autocorrect, which I find helpful. I don't need advice on going with the flow, thank you :-) That still leaves errors to be corrected, whereas autocorrect – when it's running properly – silently eliminates this friction.

My solution is to press Cmd-Z after each snarl-up. Most of the time, this undoes my extra typing while leaving the autocorrect untouched.

You can turn off everything on the Spelling & Grammar sub-menu, and just type away with potential spelling and grammar errors. With an eye to productivity, your writing thoughts will not be interrupted by Pages.

When you have a paragraph(s), or page written, then select Edit menu : Spelling and Grammar : Show Spelling and Grammar. When that panel appears, click on Check Grammar, and then proceed through the content — correcting/learning spelling and tweaking grammatical errors.
