I see, the argument -r for recursive does not work on rm with folders with content.
opening the folders and deleting the content does work,
dot_clean is for metadata files, not directories.
rm -R should work for the Spotlight and FS Events directories, but they are usually owned by root so you would need sudo. However, there aren't permissions on FAT volumes, I don't know why it wouldn't work without sudo? Not at a Mac to try right now.
