iSync and LG VX8300

I recently upgraded from an LG VX8300 wireless phone from Verizon. With the previous LG phone I was sold a USB Data cable. The newer phones will not accept the older USB Data cable. The Verizon Wireless store refused to sell me USB Data cable saying Verizon does not authorize the use of their phone on the Mac platform. (Some electronic stores have the older USB Data cables but they will fit in newer phones)

Though my LG VX8300 is discoverable by iMac G5 and G4 iBook. When I click on iSync the scan shows the LG VX3800 but says it is not supported.

So is it APPLE or Verizon and why?

I assume Verizon wants to charge for each song added to the phone along with the removal of photo and videos.

Firstly, no LG phones are supported by iSync because LG chose not to use the industry standard SyncML protocol. This decision has nothing to do with either Apple or Verizon.

Secondly, if what you want to do is transfer songs, videos & photos, then iSync wouldn't do that for you anyway. iSync is for synchronising Contacts and Events.

Verizon may have modified the firmware of the phone however, to prevent USB file transfers to force you to transfer files 'over-the-air' therefore making them money.

If you want a USB cble just don't tell them its for use on a Mac!!
