Ethernet adapter and USB error

Just a heads up: If you are getting a "USB Unknown Device" error when you start Windows under Boot Camp, it could be related to the Ethernet adapter that is available for Thunderbolt/miniDP connections.

When I have it connected normally, it boots fine. But if I take out the adapter and boot up -- planning to use Wi-Fi or something -- it will give me a USB missing device error.

There doesn't seem to be a way to fix the error. Once you go 'Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter', you can't go back! The drivers are loaded. It expects it from that point forward, so if you disconnect it, expect an error at boot.

Of course, this issue does not appear in macOS. You can disconnect it and use Wi-Fi without any errors popping up during the boot sequence.
