App names showing up as com.apple.mobile installation after app update.

I am running iOS 10 on an iPhone 6s Plus. Recently several apps have needed updates, but when they are finished updating their name changes from "Chrome" or "Netflix" to "com.apple.mobileinstallation". This shows up on the home screen, as well as in spotlight search results. Spotlight does, however, still return the correct app when I search for "Netflix" but still with the incorrect name. Has this happened to anyone else? How do I fix it and keep it from happening?

Hi,

I had this. I tried to delete the apps and it kind of just froze them out, wouldn't let me do anything.

But. I restarted my phone, signed into my Apple ID on the web browser and when I came out again the apps were back but fully working with proper names and logos.

I'm not 100% which part of this made it work but it is something for you to try?

Hi Jettatwo. Try the following to delete a reluctant app.

There's another way to delete an app that may work when the shaking mode does not. Go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > STORAGE Manage Storage. Note that this is the first Manage Storage. Wait for the list to populate and tap on the entry for the app. It should offer a Delete App button which may work.

Hi OleNeal21. If you have a question, please post a new question. Give as much detail as you can, starting with your device model and iOS version. Describe what you're trying to do, what happens when you try,the exact text of any error messages, fixes you have already tried, etc.

As a first step, restart your iPad. Hold Sleep and Home buttons until you see the Apple.

Hi there PaRaDoXAppleseed.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! Thanks as well for those screenshots you provided. It's very strange that those apps aren't showing just the name on your iPhone 6s Plus on iOS 10. I'll be glad to help you with that.
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- First, make sure you have the latest iOS 10.1.1.
Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Then, quit all of the currently running applications, and Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Never underestimate the power of a good restart. Once your iPhone is back up, check the app names again.
Sign out of the App Store on iOS -- Sign out of iTunes & App Store on your iPhone, then restart once again. Sign back into iTunes & App Store and then check the names.

Let me know how that goes and have a good day!
