Hey Abigail2492,

It sounds like you're having some trouble checking your voicemails. This is a very important function, and I'd be happy to figure out what's preventing you from utilizing it.

Before we begin, I just want to take a moment to explain a bit about how voicemail with the iPhone works. The menu found by navigating to Phone > Voicemail is a service known as Visual Voicemail. This is provided by us, and it's basically a simplified resource for viewing and listening to your received voicemails. The voicemails themselves, and your ability to receive them, is a service that's provided by your carrier. With this information in mind, we'll need to determine if you're having an issue with the Visual Voicemail feature, or if it's an issue with the general voicemail function. Here's some great information about confirming that Visual Voicemail is working properly:

If you can't set up Visual Voicemail, make sure that your carrier supports this feature.

If you need help, try these steps. Check your Visual Voicemail after each step:

  1. Try to call someone to check your cellular network connection.
  2. Make sure that you set up your voicemail. To check, dial your phone number from your iPhone.
  3. Call your iPhone from another phone and try to leave yourself a voicemail.
  4. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings.

  5. Contact your carrier and make sure that you have the voicemail feature on your plan.

If you've tried these steps and you've confirmed with your carrier that there aren't any issues with the voicemail feature on your plan, we'll need to test a few things with the phone itself. The first thing we'll want to do is force-close the Phone app:

After that's been done, let's go ahead and restart your phone using the following method:

How to restart

  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
  3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

Test the voicemail function once the phone restarts. Please let us know the results. Have a great day!
