ipod touch iOS 6.1.6

I notice that people are saying that we can't update our iPod Touch 4 after iOS 6.1.6, so that means if we want to use the more updated apps, we will have to get a new iPod Touch then? The 4th generation Touch is basically finished when no supports available?

Thank you.

Hello iso-9002,

If you look at the bottom section of an app's App Store page, it lists the minimum iOS version and/or device it runs on. With that said, only updated apps that require a version of iOS higher than the one in question (iOS 6.1.6) will not run on that iPod Touch. It's not entirely correct to say that the iPod Touch is finished as there are still a great deal of apps that still support iOS 6 and below.

Please note however, that some apps that require a version of iOS equal to or less that the version in question may not run if it requires a certain device, like some iPhone models that have more memory than their equivalent iPod Touch models.

FYI,

Just because your iPod Touch 4 is no longer able to upgrade to the latest iOS doesn't mean your iPod Touch 4 is suddenly useless.

Your iPod Touch 4 will work as it always has and the apps you have installed on it will continue to update and receive some level of app updates relevent to your current iOS, if the developer is continuing to support a minimum iOS that your iPod Touch 4 will support.

Your iPod Touch 4 will still do everything it does now, even without the possibility of new app updates.

Your iPod Touch 4 is NOT suddenly becoming obsolete.

It will still function and work with all of the apps it has on it.

Good Luck to you!
