I am trying to take photos at my daughters karate class and even when I mute my phone it still makes a loud click and also when I try to record it makes the loud noise Any help would be appreciated! I read on some blog if the phone is from japan it will do this? My mom and I both bought refurbished phones from Groupon and hers does work correctly muted Thank you
There are a number of countries that by law do not allow muting the shutter sound. What is the model number of your iPhone? Settings > General > About

That model was originally for Japan.
As stedman1 indicated, it is a Japan model, and Japan is one of the countries that does not allow muting of the shutter click sound.

You can use a app such as Manner Cam. Or, you can just make sure your finger is over the speaker when you take the picture. It will make the sound close to inaudible.
