Facebook app won't install

I periodically delete and reinstall apps on my iPhone to free up storage, usually Facebook and Twitter. Last night, Facebook would not reinstall, saying the update is temporarily unavailable. Currently, Facebook is listed on the storage page, but the icon is blank and it won't delete and on the app store, I tap open and it doesn't respond. Is there something that can be done to get Facebook back?

Hello Danny9400,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you've been unable to reinstall Facebook on your iPhone.I can see how this would be concerning, especially since this is something you've been able to do before. You've done some great steps so far! I'm happy to help.

If you haven't already, I recommend restarting your iPhone. This can resolve many unexpected behaviors. Use the steps below:
  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
  3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists after restarting, try removing the app with iTunes on a Mac or PC. Connect your iPhone, click the iPhone icon and choose Apps under Settings. Once there you will see the Apps on your iPhone. If Facebook is listed, choose Remove. Here is some additional information about organizing and syncing apps with iTunes:
iTunes for Windows: Sync and organize iOS apps
iTunes for Mac: Sync and organize iOS apps

Have a wonderful day!
