iphone 7 phone app freezing

Hi,

I have the new iPhone7.

The Phone APP often freezes and requires me to "hard-close" the app by double clicking the home button and swiping up.

Is this a known issue?

Does anyone know how to fix?

My software is up to date iOS 10.1.1

thanks

Hey there, BingoBones.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! It appears the Phone app isn't behaving as expected on your iPhone 7 on iOS 10.1.1. It appears to be freezing at inopportune times and I'll be glad to help.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- Before starting any troubleshooting, I always recommend a fresh backup to keep your personal information safe.
Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- First, make sure the Phone app is closed, then Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Never underestimate the power of a good restart. Test the app to see if this has corrected the issue.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Even though the title of the article isn't specific to your issue, the section titled "Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again" will walk you through all the steps to reinstall the iOS on your device. Once you're back to the home screen test the Phone app again and let me know how it goes.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for getting back to us with that information, BingoBones.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- If you don't have a recent backup, please do so now.
Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings -- This process will completely wipe the iPhone to allow a fresh copy of the iOS to be installed.
The first time through, select "Set up as a new iPhone". Feel free to sign into iTunes & App Store and iCloud. Sync your contacts to your iPhone again and test how the Phone app behaves. If everything is working as it should, use the "Restore from a backup" link located in the "Get Help" section. If it isn't, under the same section, "Contact Apple Support".

Take care!

Add me to list. Phone and/ or contacts freeze up multiple times a day. I use my phone a lot to call customers. Closing app by double clicking home button and flicking away and then reopening usually works. I've never been patient enough to see if it ever fixes itself. Occasionally I've had to power off to fix. Gotta be a software bug of some sort. hard reset doesn't help. 10.1.1 AT&T. I never seen Apple admit they have a problem so who knows if they are aware and working on it?

Add me to the list. Seems to happen randomly. I'm really starting to get upset. It's freezing on the messages app constantly. I would have to close the app reopen and try to send text before it again. Today it it froze on the screen lock and has not responded to any buttons. This has lasted for the past 10 minutes and still counting. The display comes on and off with no response. I can not even turn my phone off or anything at the moment. Any suggestions???

SOLVED!

my iphone 7 plus phone app freezes randomly, also. tried all mencioned procedures, with no results at all.

till i noticed some strange contact entries, with no data inside at all, and named "no name" or something like that. they were assigned to #.

so i followed these steps:

-delete any app in relation with contacts (cleaners, duplicate finders, etc) except stock app, of course.

-turn iphone off, and on again

-in settings, email, go to every email account, one by one, and set contact control box to off. except icloud account if you got it.

now try to use phone app normally. if it works ok, check out your contacts. if its ok, activate contacs on just ONE email acount. try to use it again, if its ok, check out contacts again. if no streange entries, activate the second one and so on. this is just to isolate which account causes the bug, which was the the origin of my app to freeze continously. i can say it was a microsoft exchange type, a hotmail account in my case. so try to repair it or delete the account.

hope it helps

greetings from spain.
