I had a storage warning alert today. I have an iPhone 6S plus with 128 gb capacity. When I checked the storage available, there shows a total capacity of 55 GB on the phone under genera settings and about tab? I understand the iOS takes some, but not this much.......
It sounds as if you have the 64gB model.

No. iPhone 6s Plus. It came in 32, 128, and 256 GB options. I purchased the 128.

Actually, the first release of the 6S + was 16, 64 and 128gb. So, which model do you have.... Only the model number can confirm.
