Macbook Pro crashes every time I use FCPX

I have the following product:

mid 2010 MacBook pro

2.4 ghz intel i5

8 gb RAM

Nvidia GT 330M graphics card

I normally run FCPX on my iMac and will use FCPX on occasion w/ my MacBook pro. FCP has always been slower on my MacBook but w/ the last few recent updates to FCPX, my MacBook crashes every time I use it. It gives me some type of graphics error report after my MacBook reboots. I find this strange because, according to Apple, my graphics card is compatible.

I use an external drive that I also use w/ my iMac and it works fine. I have also tried using FCP w/ out the drive and it still crashes.

Any ideas? I am bummed because this is only reason I really use my MacBook and don't really want to upgrade unless I really can't use this MacBook for FCP.
