Trouble with Evolution UC-33 Control Surface

I recently purchased an Evolution UC-33 Control Surface. On the box it says that it's both Mac and PC compliant. I installed the software and in the Soundtrack Pro preferences it recognizes the controller as Mackie. If I fuss with the fader controls, I get very limited response. I have a project with a bunch of tracks mapped to Output faders which I am using to create a mix. I just want to map those faders back to my controller so I can manually control. What am I doing wrong? I went to the M-Audio Web site:
http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=evolution.presets

...and they have some presets there (one for Logic), but nothing for Soundtrack Pro or Garage Band. Also, within STP, there is a button to map control surfaces to functions, but there is no explanation of any of those functions and I don't understand them. All I want to do is map my mixer outputs to my 8-9 faders.

Does Soundtrack really support this controller? What am I doing wrong? I am new to using control surfaces. I just want it to work.

Unfortunately, afaik, the UC-33 is not supported by STP. In fact, the only surface control protocol that is supported is the Mackie Control Universal and I don't think the UC-33 supports that protocol. It could be possible to program the UC-33 to send sysex data similar to the Mackie Control but for that, you'll need the correct sysex info and I'm not aware of anyplace where you can find it.

That said, there's a solution. LC Xmu is a software that does exactly what you need: emulating a Mackie Control from any generic control surface. Check the demo to see if it works for you.

Thanks for responding and telling me about the LC Xmu! I have installed the demo and after spending some time, it seems to be working. I've managed to get the volume faders to directly correspond to the volume faders on screen, which is 90% of all I want to do. But how do I make them map only to specific output channel strips? I can't seem to change the order or reassign the mapping of faders. I am working with a multi-track project with lots of layers, so I have several layers corresponding to each channel strip output. I've been pouring over the manual from both LC Xmu and Soundtrack Pro and I still haven't resolved it. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks!
