Can't Select Finder Windows in Mission Control

I am constantly switching windows using Mission Control set to a hot corner. Sometimes, when I select a Finder window, it comes to the front for half a second, and then disappears behind my currently active window, whether that's Preview, Chrome... whatever. Repeated attempts at using Mission Control to select Finder Windows don't work, although windows from other applications can still be selected through Mission Control. I can still get back to Finder by going to my Dock or through cmd+tab, but Mission Control is out of the question. And then I continue working and somehow, the problem goes away... only to reappear later.

Do you have finder assigned to multiple desktops? I have observed this problem goes away if you assign finder to only one desktop. (two finger tap on finder icon -> Options -> Assign to -> this desktop). This should work as a temporary fix until Apple resolves the bug. Let me know if it works for you.

No help here, unfortunately, but I have this problem too after upgrading to macOS Sierra.

If any apps are open, Finder does not become automatically active in the foreground when using Mission Control - allowing file selection from folder/desktop and dragging over an application:

Open a Finder folder and any app. Overlap folder and application window.

Open Mission Control and select the Finder folder to drag a file from it into application.

However, application window stays in the foreground and if it covers the folder, file selection from Finder is not possible until you manually select Finder from Dock or by Tab.

Also dragging a file over a Dock icon (from folder or desktop) does not activate a hidden app anymore (may work first time, but fails after that). I need this feature every day when I add files to an existing open project.

Flexible dragging and dropping is crippled and has become a major workflow slower.

Everyone suffering from this, please send feedback to Support.

Hi there, I think I have the same issue - this is what I get when trying to select a Finder window in Mission Control. I also then am unable to close the window using the red button etc once I am back on the relevant Desktop - very irritating. (Having said that, I don't think I've seen this on OSX 10.13.3 (pretty sure this screenshot was taken before I updated), so fingers crossed. Anyone else experiencing this? Cheers.

I've chatted with Apple support about this issue on multiple occasions. Clearing the VRAM fixed it for me once in the past, but it came back. Support indicated it only happens with 3rd party apps like Chrome, that you're using (and where I'm experiencing it most as well). They said that means it's an issue with the app itself, not macOS. I'm not sure that's true, but they said we need to take this issue to Google.

So I reported the bug here: Google Groups. Please add your +1's and comments there, so we can get Google to fix this. Or worst-case, hopefully they reach out to Apple and get Apple to fix it, if that's where the issue really lies. Thanks!
