how can i turn on the camera shutter sound on an iPhone 7

The phone comes with Live Photo as the default. Camera sound is turned off in Live Photo mode.


The fix: Turn off Live Photo by tapping the 3 concentric circles located at the top middle of the camera screen then Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Lock Sound and tap to turn off.


You can control the Camera Sound volume level with the side buttons or use the slider on the Sounds & Haptics screen.

To adjust the volume of the camera shutter sound:


  • Use the Ringer and Alerts settings in Settings > Sounds.
  • Or turn off silent mode using the Ring/Silent switch on the side of your iPhone.
  • (In some countries, muting of the shutter sound is disabled).


Note that there is no shutter sound when taking Live Photos:


To toggle Live Photos on and off, tap the icon above the camera viewfinder:
