Mini Display Port Thunderbolt to VGA Adapter not working since Sierra upgrade

Hi folks. I use the VGA adapter with my mid-2015 MBP retina to drive a large Samsung projector connected through a Windows work station. Have not had problems with the adapter driving my PPTs for example until the week after upgrading to Sierra. Anyone else having the problem? Is there a driver that I could re-install? Thank you in advance!

First off make sure your MacBook pro is actually trying to output the display.

System Preferences > Display > Arrangement

I actually had the same problem, but with an earlier version of MacOS Sierra. And this helped my issue - About the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter firmware update - Apple Support

Thanks Michael. I get a warning when installing the miniDP VGA firmware update, stating that the package is "incompatible with this version of Mac OS and may fail to install" with another warning that installing it "could damage my system" so I am quite hesitant, at least without say Apple support on the other line, right? Appreciate it.🙂
