iPad is disabled: Connect to iTunes

So on my daughter's iPad she set a passcode and couldn't remember it. She tried to unlock it too many times and it disabled it. I've tried everything but it isn't even connected to WiFi at the moment so I couldn't used the Find My iPhone way of erasing it. I tried Updating and Restoring through connecting to iTunes, then clicking on Restore but only get an error (1671, I think). I can NOT get the iPad to reset to factory settings or unlock. It's just a useless expensive paper weight at the moment. I tried contacting support but even they couldn't help me and the nearest Apple store is 4 hours away. Does ANYONE have any idea how to fix this? (iPad 4th gen)

The link I provided lists all of the error codes and the troubleshooting. This is what you get when you click on 1671:

Check for communication issues

If you see error 1671, iTunes is downloading necessary software. Wait for the download to finish and try again. To see how long the download should take, you can click the down arrow in the upper-right corner of iTunes.

If you see one of the issues below, your computer might not be able to connect to Apple servers or your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

  • 17, 1638, 3014, 3194, 3000, 3002, 3004, 3013, 3014, 3015, 3194, 3200
  • "There was a problem downloading the software."
  • "The device isn't eligible for the requested build."

Check for communication issues between iTunes and Apple software-update servers. Also check for issues with third-party security software.

If you still see an error message, contact Apple Support.
