How to see speed when running with the Apple Watch 2 (without using the phone)?

I am wondering if there is any way (or app) to see speed when running with the Apple Watch 2. I know that some apps that allow this, but you have to carry the phone or if you are using the bike mode. It is possible to have access to this information the Outside Running mode?

Hi

The built-in Workout app offers a choice of metrics for Outdoor Run workouts including current pace and average pace, but not speed.

To customise the information shown by the Workout app during your Outdoor Run workouts:

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Workout > Workout View.
  • Choose Multiple metric.
  • Tap on Outdoor Run > tap on Edit (upper-right) > select up to 5 metrics (they can be arranged in your preferred order).
  • Tap on Done (upper-right) when finished.

For additional workout features, you may find that a third-party fitness tracking app meets your needs.

To learn about the features of third-party apps, I suggest consulting both the developers' app descriptions and their support resources. For example:

Runmeter:

Map My Run:

Strava:

Nike+ Run Club:

HeartWatch

Runtastic / Runtastic Pro:

If you cannot find the specific information that you are looking for, you may wish to ask the developer directly. This is usually possible via their support resources (you may need to create a free account, in order to be able to log in). They may also be open to receiving feature requests.
