Safari not able to Browse on Cisco anyconnect vpn

I have an issue browsing through safari when connected to my corporate VPN using the Cisco anyconnect client. Firefox works fine when specifying the proxy settings though. i can resolve all names via DNS queries but for some reason it does not want to open any websites.

i have trawled through countless posts on this problem but none of the supposed solutions have solved my issue.

please help!!
