ITunes doesn't recognize CD Burner

I am unable to record an ITunes playlist to a CD. This is the message I get: "Disc burner or software not found".

However, I am able to burn a CD with Windows media player. But I would like to use ITunes, instead.

For what it's worth here is the diagnostics from ITunes:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 3790)
System manufacturer System Product Name
iTunes 7.0.2.16
CD Driver 2.0.6.1
CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.1
UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.6.1),
Video Driver: RADEON X600 Series (Microsoft Corporation)\RADEON X600 Series (Microsoft Corporation)

IDE\DiskWDC WD400BB-00DEA0_____________________05.03E05, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
SCSI\DiskSiImage _______________0000, Bus Type SCSI, Bus Address [16,0]
IDE\CdRomATAPI CD-R/RW_8X4X32____________________5.GV___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
IDE\CdRomLITEON DVD-ROM_LTD163D__________________GHR3___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [1,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.

The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.

🙂 the diagnostics were worth it.

what has been having a reasonable amount of success with the 2380s on 64-bit Windows systems has been to reinstall the appropriate 64-bit version of the GEAR drivers that iTunes uses for importing and burning.

GEAR drivers are available from the following site. note that there are two different 64-bit versions of the drivers. be sure to get the one that fits your hardware:
