UNABLE TO DELETE/MOVE MESSAGE

I've got two email messages that won't go away. If I try to delete them I get an error message saying "Unable to move message". If I move them to another folder, the next time I open my email app they're back in my inbox. I deleted them off of my PC a long time ago with no problem. This problem started right after I upgraded to iOS 10. It was just one message for a couple of weeks, now it's two messages! My phone is an iPhone5. Help!!!

Hi there, wapsirat!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with the Mail app on your device. First, check out this article with steps to Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch . This will allow you to close the app and reopen it. Also, check out this article with steps to Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .

Next, check out the steps in this article to Get help with Mail on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch . While it does address issues sending and receiving, there are some steps that will still help you:

Remove your email account and set it up again

If you still have issues with sending and receiving email, try removing your email account from your device and then add it back again:*

  1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website to verify that all of your email is there or check if your email is saved somewhere other than your iOS device.
  2. On your iOS device, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap the email account you want to remove.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. Add your account again.

*iOS backups made in iCloud and iTunes include a backup of your mail settings, but not your emails. Emails deleted from your iOS device aren’t recoverable from an iCloud or iTunes backup. Learn more about backups in iCloud and iTunes.

Another option is this app is able to be deleted and reinstalled in iOS 10, as outlined here: Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS device with iOS 10 - Apple Support.
Cheers!
