How can I disable "reader view" in Safari on my iPad?

When I open a web page in Twitter on my iPad, it defaults to Safari; and Safari defaults to reader view. But it's an iPad. It's quite capable of displaying graphics and anything else that is likely to appear on a standard web site.

Why would anyone think they're doing me a favour by forcing a reader view on me? I want to make it stop. I'm aware that I can opt out _after_ it has loaded, but I don't want it to load in reader view ever again. Unless I ask it to.

I would switch my default browser to Safari to escape this madness, but I gather it's impossible to do so. Help! please tell me how to stop Safari from defaulting to reader view.

iPad Mini, iOS 10.1.1

Oops. I meant to say that I would switch my default browser to Chrome (not Safari).
