full charge capacity- 2012 15" Retina Macbook Pro

Can anyone tell me what the original mAh capacity of the mid 2012 15" Retina Macbook Pro is? I feel like my battery is not at the capacity it should be and might be below the 80% Apple states their batteries will last for 1000 charge cycles. I chatted with Apple support but they would not give me that information. At first I thought he didn't have that information. But after he asked me what my current mAh is he told me that was within acceptable standards. I asked if he didn't have the original info how could he know what the acceptable level is. Later I specifically asked if he couldn't tell me because he didn't have the information or if it was something not released to customers. He confirmed it was info not released to customers.

So I have no way of knowing if indeed my battery is below the 80% and therefore defective based on Apple's own standards and if not how close is it.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Apple does NOT say that a battery will last 1000 cycles. Apple says that a battery is designed to last UP TO 1000 cycles.

Download CoconutBattery. It will show the designed capacity of the MBP battery.

According to the photo on this page the original battery capacity was 8460 mAh. Mine currently is at 78% of that, which is quite normal for a notebook of this age. As Ogelthorpe mentioned, Apple claims the maximum number of cycles is 1000, but the real number strongly depends on the way the MacBook is used.

Thanks for the info. Based on Apple's website the battery will last 1000 cycles at 80% capacity. Which to me means if it falls below 80% before 1000 cycles the battery is defective based on their claims. I will check out the app and see what it says.

Coconut Battery also has a live on the web comparison of your machine battery and others using the app with the same specs as your machine, to see where you fit in.

From the drop down menu:

So I dl coconutbattery and checked it. It showed my original capacity is 8460 and my current capacity is at 78.3%. I didn't see the online comparison. I dl version 3.4. What version do you have. I didn't see online anywhere. Maybe they changed it again.

It was very odd. After dl coconutbattery and running it when I got on Safari to come here it gave me an error message saying communities page didn't support my browser. I shut down and restarted. Then rechecked but it still didn't work. I got on support chat and checked it again and it worked. Go figure. Not sure if the two are related but it's too coincidental.

Well when i went back and looked I see I dl a previous version from Cnet. So I went to the coconut site and dl the current version. I saw the online comparison so I checked it. It seemed I was right about in the middle.

But again when I tried to get to the community page I got the message saying my browser wasn't supported. I deleted coconutbattery and it still didn't work. But when I contacted support chat it started working again. Weird.
