opening .ink files

I was sent a file called <image.ink> that I was told contained a collection of images but I can find no way of opening it. It was sent by elderly relatives from a PC and the images come from a digital camera but that is all I know (and they cannot explain more...).
iPhoto won't open it but nor will Photoshop, Graphic Converter or any other program I've tried. I did a Google search and <.ink> seems to be a "Pantone Reference Fille" or CorelDraw but Corel does not list it on its site.

Anyone any ideas on this?!
thank you!

Ok, I'd like to delete my question but as I can't...
I found that the file is not< image.ink> but <image.LNK >
"L" not "i"
By searching the File Extension Source <http://filext.com> I find this is a Microsoft "link" to a .EXE file so there is no way I could open it.

I hope this information is of some use to someone!
Thank you for your patience.
