IPad Pro Screen Flicker and Rapid Beeping Noise

My iPad Pro 9.7 will occassionally just begin beeping rapidly while the screen flickers when asleep.

It does this on its own. Never while in use, only when with the cover is on and asleep. I hear a beeping noise, open the Apple Smart Cover, and the screen is rapidly flickering with the beeping noise.

Turning it off then back on again resolves the issue and it becomes usable.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

Checked the connection on the keyboard, made certain it was secure. I have had no trouble since. Thanks, Mulderscully.

FYI

It appears it was the Smart Keyboard. I replaced the keyboard and haven't had a problem since. I think the keyboard was faulty to begin with. It was constantly disconnecting anyway.
