Preview App - Inserting PNG file into a PDF Distorts the Image

Opening up an existing PDF, and inserting as a new page from a PNG file (either by dragging file OR Edit->Insert->Page from File) results in a new page that doesn't include the entire image. It usually creates a new page and parts of the image are chopped off. This happens in both El Capitan and Sierra - see example.

In OSX Yosemite and before this worked fine. Imported PNG files were automatically resized in a portrait layout in a new page.

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. I get the same. That's a bug in Preview or Sierra or both. Report it to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html.

A workaround is to open the png file in Preview and add the other PDF pages to it. Then print the combination of pages to PDF. Not very elegant but it does work.

Ugh. It's been like this since El Capitan was released. I will send feedback to apple as you suggested. Thanks!
