what is an open port with a commplex-link?

I'm trying to discover what service is trying to connect to an open port. One day it was called service "freedom". Scanning for open ports, this port was first to appear with the description commplex-link. The another service described with more information by Norton security pointed to an app associated with my modem trying to link to this port, the Netgear Genie App. I am blocking all connections in firewall settings. Also Netgear Genie App is notifying me that it is trying to make changes. I don't get enough info from the app to allow what it is trying to do. The Netgear product is a modem with router, in which the router is disabled so the modem can be used as a bridge to my Airport TC.

The Norton security will probably.. associate an attempt to open a particular port to a known product.

That does not mean compplex-link is actually the product.

When I google it the port that is mentioned is 5001

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers

But Apple also use 5001 for TC configuration. So if I port scan the TC you will find port 5001 open.

Port Scan has started…

Port Scanning host: 192.168.2.201

Open TCP Port: 5001 commplex-link

Open TCP Port: 5009 winfs

Port Scan has completed…

This is marked as commplex-link but it is purely Apple's own tools that use it.

If you block it you will not be able to configure the TC.
