Watch Face Won't Update/Sync

I just updated the software on my Apple Watch and I am trying to set the face to one of the new settings, but each time I try and click "set as current watch face" in the iPhone app it does nothing - you touch it and nothing happens. So I tried to change the face directly on the watch, but the new watch faces aren't showing up. I tried shutting down both the watch and the phone, restarting and trying again but it still isn't working. Any suggestions?

Im having the exact same issue as well. Would really appreciate someones help as none of the suggestions have worked so far. Even after editing the My Faces section in the Watch App, it doesn't work! Surprised Apple hasn't addressed this critical issue as so many people are facing this problem.

And this is typically when you have upgraded your phone. It happened to me when I changed from 6 Plus to the X.

I just had this issue after moving from iPhone 6 plus to iPhone 7 plus - the backed up watch data all worked but on "My Faces" section I could add and change complications but pressing "set as current watch face" didn't work - I tried the suggestions here but none worked, initially there were no watch faces listed (even though my watch had various installed).... then I clicked the "edit" button (to edit your current/newly added watch faces)

On clicking the edit button, the newly added faces (I only did two then realised it wasn't updating the watch) disappeared from "My Faces" and all the original ones showing on the watch (from the watch backup) came back... and crucially now I can change them and set new watch faces.

In short... no watch face changes worked until I touched the "Edit" button of My Faces and then the two I tried to add went and were replaced by my original faces from the backup and everything now working fine. I can add change and set faces as I want. Hope that helps someone :-)

Hi

The following steps may help:

Close the Watch app and then restart both your iPhone and your watch again:

If the issue persists, next unpair and re-pair your watch:

Same problem....very annoying. I started having this problem after an upgrade when I lost my favorite watch face.!@#$%#$%^&*!! What I got in its place was some variant of the Utility face which had no dates at all, and constantly wanted to tell me how many laps I've been running??? whaaaa? So, I deleted all of my current watch faces ("my faces") via the watch app, then added a couple back from the face gallery. When I did that for the Utility face I got the same junk I had before...and couldn't get rid of. But now I am able to use a "Simple" watch face which has the complications I want...but no numbers on the hours. Tacky....very tacky. Hope this helps someone.
