remove Xerox printer drivers to reload old versions

I have Xerox Printer Drivers 3.9.0 on my Sierra Macs, and unfortunately, they won't allow for proper printing with the with Multi-Function devices (ColorQube 9203, etc.) in the office. Basically if I use the driver, I get gibberish (it doesn't process the print job). If I select a generic Postscript driver, it prints, but I lose out on the advanced features - such as selecting paper trays, staples, three-hole punch, etc.

I need to reverse or downgrade the software update to this driver to the previous version that I believe is in the 4.1 Xerox Printer Update that Apple provided (not the version that Xerox provides on their website) in order to get the system to work properly.

Any ideas on how to completely remove the Xerox Printer Drivers from my Sierra system, and then use the PKG installer from Apple to install the "current" Sierra supported version that worked? Resetting the Printer System isn't the answer - and I can't find anything in the library looks remotely familiar (like PPD files, etc.).

Thanks in advance!

Any reason why you cannot install the specific macOS Sierra printer drivers for the ColorQube 9203 (supported in Sierra), and add that as a new printer, which you can make your default work printer?

The ColorQube 9203 driver version supported in Apple's Xerox Printer Drivers v4.1 for OS X download (aug 2016) is 3.8.1.1. The Xerox site's macOS Sierra driver for the 9203 is 3.90.0 and is dated Sept 21, 2016.

Sadly, no. I tried that - and when you go through that installation - it has some type of check that doesn't permit it to install a previous version, only the new version. The 3.90.0 version (thanks for the correction there) is what's failing. I need to revert back to the old version. The only way I can think of doing it is to remove any trace of the Xerox drivers, and then install the old version as "new."

The Xerox PPD and Drivers are installed in the following /Library locations as (using the 3.90.0 driver as an example):

Drag the ppdmgr, PPDs and Xerox folders to your Trash. Then install the older 3.76.0 driver package (summer 2016) from my previously provided ColorCube 9203 driver link. It may or may not install into a newer operating system release than it was intended.

Thanks, Viking. This pointed me in the right direction.

I had do some additional digging and download Pacifist to Show the Contents of the Pkg file. I navigated to the Library folder, and extracted it to my Desktop. Next, I simply added the Multifunction Printer (the same Xerox 9203) as discovered in the Printer & Scanners through Bonjour. Instead of selecting the default drivers, and I was able to select "Other" then navigate to the Library folder on the desktop, then to ~/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/Xerox ColorQube 9203.gz file, select it, and voila, all is right as rain.

Afterwards I removed the Library folder to the Trash, rebooted, and we're still gold.
