Questions About Using the "Reset PC" Feature in Windows 10 with Boot Camp

Hello,

I’m having a couple issues with my Windows 10 installation under Boot Camp, and have basically concluded that the best option is to start with a fresh install of Windows. Rather than go through the entire Windows installation, I wanted to try the “Reset PC” option—as I want to keep my files and get through the whole thing quicker. However, before I do that, I had a couple questions:

  1. Am I correct in thinking that the Boot Camp drivers will be deleted during the reset? (I already have the Boot Camp Support software downloaded and saved, though I wasn’t able to create a full installation disc using Boot Camp Assistant under macOS.)
  2. If the Boot Camp Support Software is deleted, how do I go about using the keyboard during the initial Windows setup process after the reset and before I am able to login and install the software?
  3. Are there any other issues I should know about using Reset PC with Boot Camp on Windows 10?

Thank you for your time,

Michael

Boot Camp for Mac: Remove Windows from your Mac is a much faster method than a 'Reset PC'. Reset PC does not behave as expected. The Keyboard should work because the installer has USB drivers.

For your specific early 2015 MBP model, as documented in How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support, there is no USB Installer needed. OSXRESERVED is used as a replacement. This partition has a folder/directory called $WinPEDriver$ which contains Preboot Environment and has Apple drivers needed to support Apple-specific hardware during the installation process.
