HP Laserjet 3300 Scanning using OS X Sierra

I have an HP Laserjet 3300 MFP attached via USB to my Mac Mini running macOS 10.12 (Sierra). I am not able to use the device as a scanner (but can print). When attempting to set up the scanner, I receive "Software for this device is not installed". Scanning software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it? Upon clicking the Install button, I receive the message "Software installation failed" and "Software for this device is not installed (-9945)"

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this affects my business.
