Is Apple slideshow music royalty free?

Hello,

I created a slideshow in Photo using music provided by Apple Photo for the chosen theme. I was in Germany at the time. I then wanted to uploade the resulting file into my Youtube account to share it. During the upload YouTube informed me that the music was recognized as protected music and I would need to provide prove that I had a license to upload and share it.

Now my question, is the music provided by Apple Photo license free or has a public use license to allow use/sharing on the web in Apple Photo slideshows? If it is license free, then my next question is, where does one finde information/proof about about thes melodies being royalty free.

Thanks for sheding light on this issue,

Berthold

You can read more in the full license agreement you agreed to, when you installed macOS Sierra with Photos for Mac. It puts into legal writing what TD stated:

Click the "Acknowledgements" button in the About panel in Photos:

Photos > About Photos.

You will see that parts of the theme music are copyright protected:

Are there no Apple people in this forum? Someone at Apple must know, if the music that comes with Photo is royalty free and can be published in a slideshow/videos and where one can find proof for it.

I for one will not publish anymore until this is resolved and will recommend to others not to publish, because here in Germany the lawyers have gone on hunts to find copyright/GEMA enfringements and send "Abmahnbescheide"/ceese and desist orders with nice little (1200 Euro+) bills attached to them.

Apple, please clarify and publish. Thanks.

, is the music provided by Apple Photo license free or has a public use license to allow use/sharing on the web in Apple Photo slideshows?

It's free for personal use but that would not including publishing in public forums. So, send it to your Granny, no problem, upload it on YouTube to be seen by the world not allowed.

Also, Apple are not on this forum. This forum is for users talking to other users.
