Aluminium Series 2 Watch Strap Compatibility

My wife was told today in the Apple Store Regent Street, London, that if you buy the Series 2 watch with aluminium case, only the sport and woven nylon straps are compatible. She was told that if you want the Milanese loop or Link Bracelet as additional straps, you would have to buy the stainless steel case. Is this really correct? I know that when you initially buy the aluminium case watch you can only chose between the sport or nylon strap, but assumed you could buy any additional strap and it would be compatible?

Any advice appreciated.
