How many wireless clients will my Time Capsule support?

You might want to review Apple's Specifications for the Time Capsule in the link below to confirm that the product will support up to 50 wireless clients (Users).

All other versions of the Time Capsule have the same capabilities.

But.....once you have 20-25 wireless clients connected, the network will begin to slow down considerably and it will literally be crawling at 50 clients. So, it would be wise to think of 50 as a theoretical limit, not a practical limit.

mine appears to stop at 15 clients.

If most of those clients are connected to 2.4ghz.. remember that it has a max speed of 150Mbps and that is being generous.. divide by 10 clients.. and that means a rather pathetic 15Mbps theoretical speed.. by the time you have overheads and include the inefficiency of handling more and more clients.. 10 is a good value.

But you also have 5ghz.. so it can be well worth forcing clients to 5ghz if you need the extra clients.. it does mean using a different wireless name on 5ghz and that clients do have ability to use 5ghz. But that should get you up around 20-30 considering how much faster 5ghz is cf 2.4ghz.

Wireless is never magical and for environments with heavy use.. there is nothing like ethernet with a suitable number of wireless access points at strategic locations.

50 users.

50 Users = 50 wireless devices, or 25 Users with 2 wireless devices each, etc.
